BACK TO REALITY…FOR A WHILE

After a great holiday in Germany, it’s back to work now. Luckily only for 4 days and we are almost halfway through already again. Doesn’t leave enough time to get back into the swing really, but anyhow there are quite some projects to be taken care of and we might as well have to come in during the weekend.

Our trip to Germany was great! The drive down to Bremen was far from problem-free as we first got stuck on the Puttgarten ferry due to technical problems with the bridge to drive off the ferry on and then had to stand in a traffic jam in Hamburg for 3 hours. I was really worried to have ruined  Kim’s and C’s evening, as they were waiting for us and wanted to go to a party that same night! What a relief that they were really relaxed about it, but that’s the way they are! When we finally arrived at 9 pm (!) they had already prepared really yummy burgers for dinner! That and a few beers and Jägermeisters was all we needed to get going again and so we partied until 4-5 am. We had a really good time! The bad awakening came the next day though, when we woke up very hungover around 11 am. We took it really easy and only had a calm brunch followed by another nap until it was time to meet up with Kim’s brother to go to the stadium to see the soccer game Werder Bremen – Vfl Wolfsburg. It was raining and Werder lost, but we still had a good time. It’s been quite a while since I watched my last soccer game live and it really is a special atmosphere in the stadium! Thank you Kim for making this possible!

After a coffee and dinner we kind of crashed onto the couch really early! Kim and C had to go to work the next day and we had another long drive coming up.
On Monday we got ready and stopped by Kim’s brother who showed us his Isabella car and the house and the boys discussed some database programming issues ;-) Kim’s brother is a really nice guy as well and we surely hope that the Fuges with their respective partners can manage to come up to Sweden later this year! It would be great to show them around, BBQ together and so on! As for now I want to say thank you again to the wonderful hosts Kim and C! Hope to see you soon up here!

The drive to my parents was completely hassle-free. It was so great to see them again. We spent the days with meeting relatives, shopping, a bit of hiking and eating good food! The asparagus season had just started- oh how I love that food! I could honestly live on white asparagus! It’s so so yummy, such a spring treat!

BUT it was also the only spring thing we had, as winter decided to return with blizzards and lots of snow! Even though I had missed real snow and cold weather this winter, I was definitely NOT ready for this.

I’m ready for spring now! I need sun and warmth! Luckily our drive back was fine until we reached Sweden, were we were met by a blizzard and a 10 cm thick crunchy ice-layer on the road! I usually love travelling by car, seeing everything change slowly instead of just arriving somewhere. This time though I would have really preferred to fly! But still we can consider ourselves lucky, because yesterday they had very horrible driving conditions all over Germany as well and we might have gotten stuck there or worse.

Now we are finished with unpacking everything just to get ready for our next trip already. We are flying to Dublin, Leeds and Oxford next Monday and I’m really hoping for spring over there!
